“Screening code – G0117: Have you been excluded in claims made with Medicare?”

BACKGROUND:

Medicare initiated the G0117 code…however; OD’s were inadvertently excluded in the Medicare system upgrades as a result of the January 2007 coding enhancements. With the assistance of Steve Everett of Everett Health Care Consultants [FOA consultant], this issue is being addressed. If FOA members experience any difficulties in claims activity with Medicare, contact our consultant for assistance.

ANSWER:

OD’s have not been excluded from use of Code G0117 under Medicare claims.
